all things RN...


by no means am "the nurse ambassador" or such things of that nature..but seeing as i just graduated from nursing school and hope to be working successfully as a nurse in the soon future..i just wanted to share some things i enjoy in my "nursing leisure time"...

first off..there is an amazing forum for all prospective, student and working nurses to join... its called allnurses.com, here is the link: http://allnurses.com/whyjoin-info.html... check it out..good stuff..i even posted a few responses/posts on there.. can get good information dealing with any type of nursing field: ICU, ER, OB(mother/baby, L&D), subacute care..you name it...

i also recommend any future or working health care professional along with anyone else who can stand the blood and guts to turn to Discovery Health channel at some point of time in there lives..fascinating shows, real life situations..can't get much closer to the hospital than that on TV..shows to note are Trauma: Life in the ER, and now 911: the Bronx... for all you hard core blood and guts junkies.. also Mystery Diagnosis is a great show that documents rare diseases through the perspective of the individual that lived through the disease..AMAZING..as for the more light weight stuff.. you got your Didn't know i was pregnant ( still not buying that) and 18 kids and growing or something like that showcasing the Duggers and their flock of kids.. check it out sometime..you'll learn alot..

related to that is you got TLC(the learning channel).. i get my dose of ob nursing with Baby Story (more labor and delivery) and Bringing home baby (postpartum period of parents adjusting to their new addition..pretty good..

new shows:

just got a chance to take a sneak peak at shotime's Nurse Jackie about a nurse facing an addiction... it seems like a pretty good show.. pretty true to life with all blood and guts..nurse/doctor battle..nurse's empathetic nature..lots of dark humor ..heres the link: http://www.sho.com/site/nursejackie/home.do, enjoy

and then there is HawthoRNe..with Jada Pinkett-Smith coming on TNT this june..she's plays a nurse as well..so look out for a review to that because i'm definitely watching..

there another show called NurseTV.. it comes on only at 1000am on tuesdays here in hawaii..on KHON,channel 3..not sure about other places in the country..but recently started watching it..covers reallife working nurses and student nurse and how they affect their community in special ways.

just a few of the things i enjoy on my "nursing leisure time", for all you nurses, non-nurses that may come across this page.. i reiterate..check it out.. GOOD STUFF..

Talking on the phone today to my sister, she said something to me that struck me. Struck me because it meant a lot. Struck me because just when I thought I was taking a few steps back, I'm actually leaps from where I have been, and stepping further. One step at a time.
